writing sample

Most applications with ask for some kind of "writing sample." I feel like this is another piece of the application that I'm not sure how important it is - in that I don't think the people reviewing your application thoroughly read through this writing sample. I would say that this is just a way to show that you CAN indeed write coherently.

For my writing sample I did one of two things:

1. If they did not give you another slot/space to upload a publication, I would just attach the PDF of my one short publication I had. 

2. If I already uploaded that publication elsewhere, I then attached this 30 page paper I wrote for my Stigma & Health class during my master's on...wait for it...the stigma around polyamory. Yes, spicy choice indeed. But that was a very long research paper that I worked very hard on, so I figured it would be a good example of a lengthier writing sample. 

So good options here are:

- publications

- class research papers

- white papers/reports

And again, this part is really not something to stress about too much. Just submit something that doesn't have a ton of glaring grammatical errors, and if it can showcase a strength of yours, then even better!
